KEVIN C. MURPHY is the co-founder and managing partner of Murphy Jones LLP. Mr. Murphy supervises firm administrative duties and coordinates substantive legal services. Mr. Murphy earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Law in 2003 from the University of California, San Diego (U.C.S.D.). He served as a Student Representative on the U.C.S.D. Student Services Task Force and as a Congressional Intern in Washington, D.C. Mr. Murphy obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from California Western School of Law (C.W.S.L.) in 2006. While studying at C.W.S.L., Mr. Murphy was placed on the Dean’s Honor List for academic performance, served as a Student Bar Association First Year Representative, and participated in the C.W.S.L. Bail Project. Mr. Murphy received Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards for his judicial internship with the Superior Court of San Diego County, and for his involvement with the San Diego Superior Court Volunteer Mediator Program. In addition, Mr. Murphy attended the Cornell University Comparative Law Institute while studying at the Sorbonne Univeristé in Paris, France.
Prior to joining Murphy Jones LLP Mr. Murphy practiced as an associate attorney at Morris Sullivan & Lemkul LLP representing both plaintiff and defendant parties in the areas of construction defect, personal injury and medical malpractice litigation. Currently, Mr. Murphy represents healthcare professionals before State Administrative Boards and practices civil litigation in both California and Nevada. Mr. Murphy is an active member of the State Bars of California and Nevada, American Bar Association, San Diego County Bar Association, Clark County Bar Association, American Inns of Court, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, St. Thomas More Society, American Association of Nurse Attorneys, and the American Health Lawyers Association.
In addition, Mr. Murphy donates his services to help people without access to justice receive legal representation by working as a child advocate with the Children’s Attorney Project of the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, and representing clients in mental-health conservatorship proceedings with the Short Foundation Legal Center in San Diego, California. Mr. Murphy has tried several jury trials representing conservatorship clients pro bono in San Diego Superior Courts.
